Question:

Is there anyway to prevent a no email setting in your yahoo group?

I run a couple of yahoo groups and have had a problem with ppl joining the group in order to access my members list. I have since locked the list so only I can get to it. My observation is a lot of these spammers ten to join using the requirements of the group..ie: they receive group emails. After they have joined they change the setting to no email. I would like to keep this from being a option. Is there any way to do that.

If there isn't is there any way to search members for a no email setting? My groups have gotten large and checking all the members is no longer an option.

  1. You'll have to go to a restricted group and only let in real people  : )  you can change this in management and it won't effect your current members.. and anybody that post spam, immediately ban them.

If I'm cleaning up a group,( which I can do for you) I look through  the archives for spam and delete it, and ban the sender!

  2. There is no way to keep "No Email" from being an option, nor is there a way to keep members from changing their email delivery to No Email.  I have not found an easy way to just search for members set at No Mail.

  3. you have to do this member by member, looking to see who had what mail settings. this also could prove fruitless, members can switch it back at any time. mail settings really are the option of the member unless there is a specific rule the owner has. (most spammers look for the open groups anyway)

I'd suggest sending out rules if you're planning to do this stating you will switch mail settings. most of my groups I belong to is web reading. if you change mail settings you could in fact have an end result in bouncing them.
