If you go to live.xbox.com, you will see a link that says "Get Your Gamertag". Click on it, follow the instructions, and you will have your Live account.

then go to sign in from there go to register and put in all the info that it asks for.

For xbox live, you need a code. I would say get your code from here:

Because I used it and got a free 1 month, but you can also get a 12 month. I am now saving points to get a 12 month. you can also get many other XBox 360 rewards, like gta IV.
