Is there anyway to silence the ring of all touch tone phones in a house except one?

i need to ask someone to call me but i live in a house with other people and it's nearly 2AM and i don't want them to wake me up or know i'm awake

so i need to silence the phones so that only the one in my room rings

You could unplug all the other phones. Many handsets have a "ringer off" selection, too. Look at the individual handsets.

you would have to physiclly go to each phone and turn the ringer off... sounds like you do not have that option...

dial an 800 number, or any other number that you can just stay on the line with, then when your friend calls pick up the call waiting...

when you are done with the call make sure to switch back over to the other call to be sure it has disconnected, because if it is still connected when you hang up the phone will ring to remind you that that call was placed on hold...
