Is there anyway you can put a hole in a glass bottle without a dimond bit drill piece???

  1. and take to local glaciers & bung them a few quid,cheaper than buying a specialist bit for one job


  2. use a masonary bit, but take it slow, and it should give you the results you are looking for

  3. yes, you need a metal drill bit and some kind of cold fluid to act as a lubricant

    obviously a tile drill bit would be ideal but if you can make a "dam" around the hole with vaseline, about 1" across, just deep enough, about 2 to 3mm and fill it with liquid parafin or glycerin to act as a lubricant then you can use any metal drill bit on it. drill a small hole first and gradually progress to whatever size you need. before you start put on some elec. tape over the hole and mark your centre on this. this will stop the drill bit slipping
