Is there anywhere decent to eat in NZ?

Question

Aside from the Islander bakery in Porirua and the cakes at Pak n Save, there isn't anywhere nice to eat out.

Everytime we come to NZ we find the food selection quite poor. I think NZ needs more variety when it comes to ingredients from other countries.

If somebody could tell me the where abouts of a really good Indian or Chinese restaurant in Wellington, please let me know.

lol! well if you are going to Pak n Save to eat out then you are very sad and I am not surprised you are disapointed.  There are HEAPS of great restaurants in major towns and cities.  Just look int eh yellow pages!

The curry club is excellent and Cafe India for starters if you like Indian.

Been awhile since I ate at the Chinese restuarants in Wellington, but there used to be several dim sum places that had very good food in the Courtenay Place area. Just look for the ones that you see a lot of Chinese customers in :)

I am hoping that the Indian place on Kent Terrace, right by the Embassy Theatre will still be in  business when I go back in April, tho for the life of me I can't remember the name! That whole area is really worth a wander round even if you end up trying something else, like Strawberry Fare or some of the Thai places etc.

Axolotl is a very nice Mexican place - good food and used to be good prices also. Rinascimento is a decent Italian restuarant, used to go there alot many years ago.
