  1. There are some excellent places in Lincoln.

Malabar Junction is good if you like Indian (it has some different dishes to what you would normally expect but it's really good). Sorry couldn't find a website.

Browns Pie shop also comes highly recommended. Lovely locally produced food cooked well. http://www.brownspieshop.co.uk/

Also check out Viela (a Brazilian BBQ) great food, not the usual place and they do really good cocktails. http://www.viela.co.uk/Steep hill

    Outside Lincoln

    Shakesbys - Horncastle.

I've eaten at all the above and like them all.

I've not tried either of these next 2 but I want too.

Winteringham Fields - Winteringham, 16th century house. Very high quality food, well rated. very expensive (£100+ a head).

Harry's Place, Great Gonerby, Grantham. 1star Michelin. Modern high quality cooking.

  2. The Wig and Mitre is excellent (top of Steep Hill) and the best pub meal I ever ate was at the Inn on the Green in Ingham.

  3. Go to Sleaford- half an hour by train- and have a meal at the Thai Sabai, such a tasty restaurant- they do a lunchtime menu that's only £6.50, try it some day, we keep going back, a lot, may see you in there some day... delicious food, pleasant staff, good decor...

In Lincoln itself, how about the Wig and Mitre on the steep hill? It's a bit pricy, but I've never been disappointed by the food there.. I quite like the Ask pizzeria outside the cinema, or Pizza Express at the foot of the steep hill, of course, if you don't like pizza, there's not much point...

Me mum rates the Queen's Head outside Sleaford very highly, she's always off there, of course, that's a car trip and a half... I think if you don't mind the train, the Mowgli Indian restaurant in Metheringham is also worth a try... but honestly, make the effort and get to the Thai Sabai... or Grantham's Gorkha Square? OK, it's nowhere near Lincoln, but it is d**n tasty there... keep meaning to get back...
