  1. Surely if you have a `music centre` ( record player deck, tape deck and CD deck) you can transfer them yourself, by playing them and recording them directly onto CD.?

  2. Oldhitz on Grainger street will do it for about £20 an album. It may be worth just buying the CDs or buying a USB turntable and doing it yourself though such as this

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/asin...

just noticed about the boots so the turntable may work out the cheaper option

their website domine has expired but the shop is still there and offers various digital media transfer services

  3. I know this doesn't actually answer your question, but there are turntables being advertised that can be connected to a USB port on your computer.  This allows you to transfer all your vinyl records or old tapes to your PC then burn the tracks to CD.

It might be cheaper in the long run to treat yourself to one of these, rather than pay sombody to transfer one track for you.

  4. if you still have a vinyl record deck. you can use a dubbing cable and yoru computer and the right software to make the recordings yourself. alternatively you could search for CD versions of the albums.

as for places that do that sort of thing. legally i don't think they can. however you as a purchaser can make a copy for you personal use however if you get rid of the vinyle you would have to get rid of the corresponding CD to stay legal. so if the vinyl breaks or gets scratched you would have to keep it as long as you want to listen to the songs from that album.

the place may have been closed down for operaiting the service illegally.

you are unlikely to find somewhere that does this legally and cheaply. much easier to buy a dubbing cable under £5 the analog recording software priced from freeware depending on the program you use..

and if you nee the vinyl player i guess you may be able to get an old hi-fi that has a deck from a second hand shop or paper for a reasonlble price. failing that contact the DJ in your local night club and see if he / she has the facility for you to hire theire equipment for however long it takes to copy the vinyls to a computer drive and then to CDs.

    good luck.

  5. I don't actually know of anywhere, but you could ask Windows in the town, they may know of someone that provides this service......

If you ever find out, e-mail me and let me know cos I would like to do the same thing.

Good luck, hope you get somewhere!

  6. sorry dont know any however you may try recording studios.
