Is there anywhere on the web that I could find out if someone is a certified public accountant?

Our old office manager hired a CPA a couple of years ago who said he is a CPA. I don't think so.

  1. CPAs are licensed by the state they are certified in. You can call or write the state board of accountancy to find out if he is certified. If he is not a CPA, he could be subject to penalties for fraud.  


  2. Go to Yahoo or Google search and input "Your-State Accountancy Board" and check for licensees.
