  1. I know the feeling :( There really is nowhere to buy one using Solo sorry

  2. Unfortunatley Solo and Electron cards are not valid on any ATOC associated compant, which means all Rail Passenger Companies except the Heathrow Express in the UK.

As for cheap tickets, you can purchase them from Railway Cerks at the station by cash if you cannot change your card or bank status, if you go in a few weeks ahead and speak to the local ticket clerk at your station they will find you the best deal, or advice you where to go if they do not have any the appropriate computer programs if it is a small station.

    Good Luck

  3. I don't think so, this is also the case at some train stations they won't take certain cards. If you can't get train tickets off the major train lines then i wouldn't advise booking them from else where, can you not just reserve them and pay when you get to the station.

  4. Hi there

I had the same problem and came across this site, they say they take solo cards but must admit I haven't book with them as yet

  5. The National Express East Coast website (link below) will allow you to pay by Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Solo, Diners Club or American Express.

The site in question will also give you an automatic 10% discount for Advance tickets for travel on National Express East Coast services.

  6. If the train company doesn't give you any way to get the discount using a Solo card, perhaps that's something to take up with the rail watchdog. The rail companies are supposed to be performing a "public service", after all.

Solo cards are often the only cards available to people with poor financial history or credit ratings, and yet these are the people who would be most likely to benefit from these online discounts.

  7. Try changing your card, it's the easiest way.

    Good luck. X :-)
