Not proven on a commercial scale

Technology is currently expensive and in its infancy

Installation would damage the sea-bed

Certainly if the tidal power station is sited poorly, then it will disrupt the natural wave action into the surf zone, and therfore upset the ecology.

But supposing that the siting of the station will be done properly, then oceanic tidal power is an excellent source of sustainable energy, and the technology is improving in efficiency to harness it.
