Watching the Space Shuttle, or jumbo jets takeoff and land, like it's slow mo, is a thing of beauty for me.

  1. Generally, beauty is excellence. So there is beauty in anything if you see it.

Engineering is no exception. Good engineering is a thing to behold and cherish, bad engineering is ... ugly to disastrous.

  2. all engineering (when done correctly) is beauty, in concept, design and execution.

  3. There is beauty in every thing our Creator has made. I see it in the aircraft I helped to design.

I see it in the mathematical equations I have to solve. I see it in the fantastic bridge some people built. I see it in the flowers and the animals. Someone had to truly love us to surround us with all of this beauty!

  4. Designing a new system and getting it to market is like Nirvana (not the moaning rock group).  It truly is a thing of beauty to go from a blank sheet of paper to a device someone will be using for the next 20 years!

That  is why I am an engineer!

  5. Absolutely!
