Sometimes i hear people with big voice have the power even when they just speak ....but i don't have the same power ...I'm singer ...and i met some one he's beginner but he has a big voice even when he just speak ...and frankly from the first moment i heard him I became jealous ...and I wished to have that big wide voice naturally ...I loss my mind every time i hear his voice ...he's just opening his mouth and big voice comes out...I'm good singer but now I want to quit ...actually

I'm trying to convince my self that there is singers ( like Eric Clapton for example ) made a great career with not that big voice ...so what you think guys ?

  1. i think people are just born a certain way with a certain voice. some have a naturally loud voice..others more softer. everyone is original and has their own voice. i don't think you should be worried. this beginner just has his own style and type of voice. just because someone's voice is stronger only means it can be used differently.

  2. You are absolutely right there. The volume of one's voice is pretty much an inborn thing, and the person's size has a small part to do with it, I think.

Two of the world's most famous classical singers today are Bryn Terfel and Dmitri Hvorostovsky (see link: 'The Battle of the Baritones', http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm3nSvpkv... Bryn has an ultra-powerful voice, something which Dmitri cannot match, but Dmitri's voice has great color, control and tone. He is as famous as Bryn today. So, in response to your question, yes, there are singers who make it big without a big voice. Many of the more svelte classical sopranos, for example Erika Miklosa and Anna Netrebko also do not have booming voices.
