  1. For some people, classical music really helps.  For some, their favorite music.

As for myself, I find that it's different with different topics.  For example, if I am writing an essay, I can sometimes listen to anything, even if I am singing along to it.  But if I am working on scientific or mathematical homework, I cannot listen to anything and I prefer either silence or music that I don't understand (foreign stuff).  I like listening to other ethnic music because I don't understand the words and it is just pleasant.

  2. honestly, I find that music distracts you from studying when you are trying to focus completely on learning the info, try going for walks with papers or notecards to study with :)

  3. Try classical or jazz.  It's not as distracting as popular music

  4. i hear the classical piano and strings pieces help you focus. personally i just listen to Jack Johnson while i study. he helps me, whereas my roommate listens to orchestra, were both good students, so i guess you just need to find what works for you!

  5. There are actual concentration music that you can buy off the internet which are instrumental songs with specialized tunes that help relax your brain and make you focused on what you are doing.

  6. Wu-Tang

  7. classical

  8. band: disturbed

  9. i listen to instrumentals when i read or study.

no words to distract but still stuff to listen too.

  10. Mozart

  11. 2pac

  12. Try some New Age music like Medicine Drum. It's Electronic music but people listen to it when meditating or just relaxing.

  13. Anything upbeat keeps me going, but classical can help on tough things. My typing music can be anything.

  14. Music with less that 80 BPM (beats per minute). It's been proven to calm you down while making it easier to concentrate. I disagree with the use of classical music, as that can either make you completely annoyed or distracted if you don't like what you choose. My math teacher always plays ocean sounds during our tests, or bird songs. It's a good idea to stay away from music that has words so that you don't find yourself trying to sing along and off task.

  15. bob marley

  16. classical or jazz, i try to stay away from music with lyrics while i'm studying.

  17. CLASSICAL MUSIC ALL THE WAY!!! listen to Mozart, Handel, Bach, Brahms, John Adams, Philip Glass, John Harbison, Beethoven, Chopin, any classical music is great

  18. either songs with no lyrics or like jack johnson, he always is good =]

  19. punk rock or screamo its calming

  20. It really depends what you like to listen to. Nice background music is always a safe bet. But if it does not bother you to listen to heavier stuff, then go for it! It's more of a personal preference! :)

  21. Record your notes and put them on your ipod. Then play it while you're sleeping.

  22. No. While some studies found that children who listened to classical music were smarter, it has also been noted that parents that expose their children to things like classical music are generally more intelligent anyway, therefore their children will be smarter due to genetics. You should study for a test in the same condition in which you will be tested - silence, in order for your brain to recall the information.
