  1. This actually is a condition  called kyphosis or scoliosis. If it is bad enough, they will give a back brace. If it is past that point, they will do surgery to try to fix it, but by putting a metal rod in your back. Then you miss school for about 4 months after, and can't do sports for at  least a year. I wear a back brace for scoliosis.

  2. i think so, i know that my cousin's cousing (who isn't my cousin) had surgery on her back because her spine was twisted and it gave her a hunch. i don't know if she actually had it yet or not, i think there was some thing about age because she was in her mid-teens and that made her too young or something.

i don't know if that's the same thing, but yeah it can be done. mind you i don't know what the risks are or anything...

  3. Sorry you are looking at Major Surgery there ,

  4. you should definitely go to the doctor about that, its most likely scoliosis......which is a curvature of the spine, it can affect a few places like your hip, neck, rib cage, shoulder blade not just your spine.....you get that mound of flesh because its muscle built up from holding your body in that position(aparently)......i had scoliosis and had to get an opperation for it, its alot more complicated than just removing a hunch...but id get it checked out pretty soon, the longer you leave it, the worse itll get and the more sever treatment youll need.

  5. Yes.  From what you are describing, it is most probably not scoliosis, rather it is called a "Buffalo Hump" and there is surgery to correct it.  The Buffalo Hump (vs scoliosis) is an accumulation of fat on the back of the neck and upper back.

Buffalo humps range in sizes.  In women, unless very large, doctors often (for the most part) choose not to operate because the procedure is risky (close to the spine near the neck).

Frequently, this condition can occur due to an over-secretion of cortisone by the adrenal gland, a condition called Cushing's syndrome.  Often it is caused by taking steroids of some kind.  If you can recall a time when a doctor may have prescribed steroids, insurance may cover it's removal.

  6. No, what you need is to see a good osteopath who can help realign your spine and teach you techniques for good posture. You can also try yoga and pilates.

    Hope this helps.

  7. They have cosmetic surgery for feet, so you never know...

  8. thats called scoliosis. my mom had a surgery to correct this when she was 15, but that was before the condition was aloud to worsen. but that was a long long time ago, and surgery techniques have changed. have you gone to your doctor yet? tell him/her to look at your spine, and they will be able to tell if you have this condition, in which case, theyll make a referral to a back specialist, who can help you. scoliosis get get serious if untreated though. when the spine starts curving like that, it will get worse when you get older. so get some help.
