  1. First you must have confidence of the horse and vice versa, talk  and stroke to the horse so you get to know one another , visit the horse quite a bit then she/he will get used to your voice and smell.  start up with a geilding and work yourself up to a throughbred i am not a pro but if you are horsey mad like me start working in the stables and build up your career then maybe you may want to be a jockey or trainer. while you are there see what horse has a mild temperment then you are on your way,but you cant rush this process its could take up to 6 months maybe a year just hold tight and be patient. .

  2. i own horses and raise them. its not that hard to learn if ur not afraid for one.. and  u must have a good horse to start on. if u just jump on any ole' horse and the horse is green broke ( not fully trained) and u get hurt. the chances are ur going to get scared adn never ride again.

But what kinda of racing are you interested in?

    i ride weastern not english.

I train horses and stuff but if you want specifics on english riding i cannot help you lol.

i use to do barrels and pole bending. i have a million ribbons and trophies. the reason i stopped competing is because i was tired of seeing the girls/guys there that would freak otu if they didn't win, which followed by beating and whipping there horses.

i still ride tho and train horses.

it is not hard to learn to ride, but u have to have the horse in your heart or you might give up if it becomes difficult

  3. Learning to ride isn't difficult. What takes some time is learning to adjust your attitude to one that the horse will respond favorably to. Horses are quick to pick up on your attitude and body language, since this is how they react to each other in their social settings. I have horses and even a well trained one will still push the limits of what he thinks he can get away with. With some, I have to really speak boldly all the time, and move with intent - not hesitate - while with in their sight, no matter what I'm doing. This indicates to them that I am the boss. This is how horses function in the wild or otherwise. There is always a boss. It's part of their psychological make up. There are some very good instructional videos on this subject. One name to web search, that comes to mind, is Clinton Anderson. He explains very well this subject. and you'll get much better cooperation between you and a horse. Good luck.

  4. You need a lifetime, literally.

  5. Its a bit difficult and it depends how long it will take because if ur gd at it u will get really gd after some time but if ur really **** (like me) it will take a long time.

  6. It can be hard, but if you are determined and stick at it, it is well worth it. The time depends on the amount of work you have to do, but I really enjoyed all of the learning process, so go and enjoy it!
