I am buying a car soon. I mainly drive alone or with someone else. I like allthe features of the Rx-8 except 1 or them. I sometimes will drive with 4 people. Could i fit them in for a 30 minute drive? Or is it not meant to? Also, what other cars are like the Mazda Rx-8?

  1. Yes there is enough room for 4 adults for a short trip, provided they are not NBA players.  The rear seats are kinda cramped for anyone taller than 5' 6".

  2. Yes, 4 people can fit in the car.  The 2 rear seats are quite usable and provided the front passengers have not pushed the seats all the way back the rear passengers should be Ok .  I've had 5' 8" friends back there and they were comfortable.

The advantage of the RX8 is that it is designed without a "B" pillar (the one usually located between the front and rear doors.  This allows much easier ingress/egress to and from the rear seats.

There are no other cars quite like the RX8 with this arrangement, although Saturn did make a model with the "Suicide Doors" the rear seats were much more cramped.

  3. in the front there is plenty of space, but in the back it'll be a tighter fit. the way the rx-8 is designed isn't meant to accommodate tall people in the back, but if they're short (about 5 ft 6 or under) they'll be fine. it's not only the headroom that might be a problem for taller people, but also the leg room.
