Question:

Is there even a single example of a (LEGAL) right that men have in the West that Western women do not have?

Society's bias and stereotyping do not count, I'm asking for an example of a law on the books.

  1. 3 that are particularly odd:

In Liverpool it is illegal for a topless woman to work in a tropical fish shop.

In Pennsylvania it is illegal to have over 16 women live in a house together because that constitutes a brothel...however up to 120 men can live together, without breaking the law.

In Oxford, Ohio, it's illegal for a woman to strip off her clothing while standing in front of a man's picture.

(Thanks, Curious, for the links...amazing what laws still remain in effect.)

  2. men are allowed to remove their shirts if it gets hot...women on the other hand are charged with public indecency.

  3. None I can think of, at least in the U.S.A.

  4. Is being drafted a right?

  5. None.

  6. In many if not most places in the Westernized world it is legal for men to go topless in public but illegal for women to do the same.

  7. None..

Women in Western society have rights and special privileges that men don't even have.

EDIT@Fracessca: "less rights than men"?  Care to give some example?  I want to see a list of rights that women lack in the West.

  8. Males have a legal right to be circumcised in the West, whereas most female circumcism is considered illegal.

Men have a right to go enter combat and get shot, while most women are prohibited on the front lines.

There's very few rights that a man has in the West, that a woman doesn't have, and I think that's primarily because a woman just doesn't want those rights enough to ask for them in many cases.

  9. There are none.  What they seek isn't legal rights, but privileges, and unearned ones at that.

  10. In many states, men have the legal right to marry women, and women do not have the same right to marry women.

  11. Well,  they  have the right to remain silent, anything they say to their wives or girlfriend during a heated argument can and will be used against them by their wife or girlfriend in a later argument :)

Oh and they also have the right to smell the T-shirt they wore the day before to see if it is still "good" or needs to be laundered.

Mind you, we have too much dignity to do that!

    Good day Mr Ksoileau.

  12. In many western countries the children are obliged to have the father's last name. And I think there are western counties where women's last names change automatically when they marry.

In many countries (even Western) women cannot inherit the royal thrones. When a ruling king marries a woman she will become a queen but when a ruling queen marries a man he will become a prince!

In many countries abortion is forbidden while prostitution is allowed at the same time. It indirectly means that men are allowed to buy as many prostitutes as they want while the women "should" wait until they are married.

  13. ""None..

Women in Western society have rights and special privileges that men don't even have."""

LOL!, spoken like a true misogynist..

    Go and educate yourself..

    For example in the US...

-Women still have less rights than men in many areas.

-Women are still being paid less than men for doing the exact same job.

-Women don't have the same opportunity as men when it come to jobs.

    -Objectification of women by men.

    -There aren't enough female politician.

  14. yes there is......in the military women are still not allowed, for the most part, to be in some jobs that are classified as direct contact jobs while in combat.  Navy Seal and Air Force Special Tactics specialists are two examples.  The lines are becoming more blurred however....there are now female fighter pilots that actually directly engage during combat.  I think it will be years before all jobs are open to women, or at least until steroids are administered to women.  Of course then they will have to start shaving their faces too, just like us.

  15. In Florida, unmarried women may not parachute on Sundays.

Sounds as strange as your question.

I do not know much about feminism, only, that I grew up thinking they were a bunch of men hating, man looking lesbians. I hate the word (Feminist) itself. However, what I do believe, without doing the research,  it is not about the laws, but the bias, and the stereotyping of women. So it may not be about the laws somuch as it is just being a HUMANIST.

  16. You asked for one law on the books. Here are ten laws in the USA:

California law prohibits a woman from driving a car while dressed in a housecoat.

In Memphis, Tennessee, a woman is not to drive a car unless a man warns approaching motorists or pedestrians by walking in front of the car that is being driven.

In Michigan, it is against the law for a lady to lift her skirt more than 6 inches while walking through a mud puddle...

...or cut her hair without her husband's permission.

A Helena, Montana law states that a woman cannot dance on a saloon table unless her clothing weighs more than three pounds, two ounces.

In Cleveland, Ohio women are not allowed to wear patent-leather shoes.

In New Mexico, females are strictly forbidden to appear unshaven in public.

In Mississippi, the state librarian has to be a woman.

In Maryland, a woman may not go into her husband's pockets while he is sleeping.

It's a felony in Montana for a wife to open a telegram addressed to her husband (it's not a crime for the husband to open telegrams addressed to his wife).
