Is there ever a time during the summer when it's not safe to swim in a creek, pond or lake?

I was told when I was younger that it was something called the dog days, but I just looked that up and it seems to be something totally different.

  1. Dog days is just when you feel like laying around and being lazy. Lakes and ponds should be safe normally, except in a thunderstorm. I guess if creek gets a really strong current that can get dangerous too.

    Just watch out for leeches!
