  1. Probably not ever.  Ask yourself:  Would that clone be considered a person?  Are they just harvesting body parts?  Why doesn't a clone have rights (basic human rights)?  Killing a clone for body parts, isn't that murder?  Sorry to answer your question with more questions-but it opens alot of if's.

  2. I dont see human cloning becoming likely in the next decade. While the technology to do so improves, there is still a long ways to go with it. More advanced mechanical body parts is another issue. Especially with the impetus of a war, "bionic" technology is advancing rapidly. we see improved mechanical arms and legs  already.  With the lack of sufficient donor hearts, the idea of mechanical hearts, or even LVADS(Left Ventricle Assist Devices) are a feasible way of keeping someone alive long enough for a transplant. So far the use of mechanical "organs" are designed for short term survival. To allow patients to last an extra few months, or even a couple of years. So yes, this technology can extend human life. It will be awhile before we see long term use of mechanical organs.

  3. Not in the current political environment, no, sorry.

As long as the religious reich (i.e., the radical far right religous right) is firmly entrenched in the "ruling party" the advancement of medical science in those areas will be suppressed by their theocratic lobbying.

So, if you want to see advancements in that area, you need to express that opinion at the voting booth, because it's not medical science that's actually holding us back in this case.
