Is there going to be a Wii 2?

im getting a wii for christmas and i wanted to know if theres any point of me getting it if there really is a wii2 coming out soon?

While another Nintendo console is inevitable, don't expect one anytime soon. Consoles have a 4-6 year lifespan. And considering how well the Wii is doing, don't expect a full sequel untill 2011 or 2012.

Also, bonus info - Nintendo is rumored to be looking into mind-controlled gaming, so don't be too suprised when you'll be controlling games with your brain with Ninetndo's next machine.

There will be a new console that will come out within a few years or so, but it will most likely not be called Wii 2.  Nintendo always comes up with a creative name for their new consoles.

nintendo isnt creative with names...

gamecube...not creative, its a cube that plays games.

Nintendo(company who made the Wii) will most likely make another console especially since the big successes of the Wii.Maybe around 2011-2012 but for highly doubt they will call it Wii 2 as they have never called any of their previos console with a 2 in it.

Console companies begin on the next console as soon as they introduce the last, work began on the wii as soon as the gamecube was complete and it took about 5yrs, so yes a successor console will be made but its years of, and it wont be called wii 2, Nintendo tend to be a bit more creative when it comes to names.

Professional market analysts have said that they expect Nintendo to release a new console around 2010.
