Is there going to be an earthquake in November 13 ?

I am so scared. I heard that it would be 7.8. and wow that's so strong!!!There was one a few weeks ago and it was um..5.4 i think and I was going crazy I was so scared. I was like panicing. And i couldnt sleep for 2 days and on the day that the earthquake happend, wen i woke up, my heart was pounding. IS there really going to be an eathquake on NOvember 13 2008 in California? ANd how strong???im so scared//

Its ok..plan to have a picnic at your nearby park on that day. ITS OK!! Ok yes after the earthquake that I thought of what will happen. The chances that you will die on the earthquake are actually less thanthe chances that you will die before the earthquake for some other cause. Do you live in Los Angele (like me) or coachella valley or antelope valley or island empire?those are the most heavy places.

There is no way at present to reliably predict an earthquake to happen on any specific day, let alone how strong it will be.  There will likely be a pretty strong quake over southern California SOMETIME within the next 30 years, but that's about as specific as the science will allow right now.

I probably sound like numerous people in saying that only time will tell. where did you hear that it would be 7.8? Even if it were the findings of seismological discovery, earthquake predictions have been false many times. If you're really worried, make escape plans put precious items in safe, or something similar.

I felt that 5.4, and ya it was strong but in terms of your question the answers is maybe there really no way to predict earthquakes so it could happen.  All you can do is be ready if one should occur like first aid kits survival equipment etc.

Its a scam to scare people. There is no way any1 can tell the exact day that this will happen. if it is true, u'd be hearing it all over the news by now. so dont worry. i live in california too =)

~~I think what you heard is a big drill that will be practiced (I believe that's the date that has been picked), when all of Southern California will practice in the drill of an earthquake of a large magnitude happening, so they can be prepared for an emergency event if it should ever happen. This is just a great coordination practice for all the emergency services to do their jobs and iron out any problems they encounter. Sort of like a fire drill at schools. Anyway, they have said time and again, their is no way an earthquake can be predicted. Just be prepared and you will feel more in control and less panicked.~~
