  1. There was just a really good article on Surfline.  http://www.surfline.com/surfnews/article...   It talks all about Japan's surf scene.  Also in the last month, I remember seeing a picture of a crazy big wave off the coast of Japan.  It's a crazy outer reef like Mav's.  It was a pretty fast left.  I don't remember what I saw that in, I get Transworld Surf, Surfer, Surfing, and Surfer's Journal, so I get mixed up easily.


  2. Omaezaki, Shizuaoka prefecture is the go-to place for Japanese surfing. It's good all year round, but of course the biggest waves are after typhoons and winter storms. Closer to Tokyo, there are some good breaks in the Hitachi, Ibaraki area. Farther up the coast, the Shichigahama area of Miyagi prefecture has some big waves, but is off the beaten track.
