I'm going to go on vacation to England in a couple months and I was wondering if I should bring my surfboard. I live in California (USA) and I need to know if this would be a good idea.

  1. In and around Cornwall, I'm told.

  2. Newquay in Cornwall stages some major events.

  3. I wouldn't bother. You can hire them while you're in Cornwall if the surf is good. I know we're an island, but the surfing is c**p, generally.

  4. Cornwall is good!

  5. wales and cornwall are the "best" with parts of scotland next but if you are expecting anything approaching california you'll be in for a huge shock, i'd say forget the hassle and if you catch a day when its alright higher 1.

  6. Rock in Cornwall is a top place to surf over here.

  7. Newquay.

    The Severn Bore

  8. your options are either northern scotland or west into wales, devon and cornwall . summertime is pants but with the cold of the winter come the good swells and all the city people go home again. if you bring anything bring your cold water suit and get a good board here. we have lots of good shapers here and the board will be right for our waves (although it might be expensive as your dollar sucks at the moment).

newquay is the centre for surfing in england and will give you a good night life too but there are loads of great breaks else where. just google it.

just respect the locals and they will help you out.

  9. Newquay is good but there are places up in Scotland that are good too. This might help: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast/surf/

You might be better off hiring your board if it's gonna be a pain in the backside to lug around...

  10. Wales, Cornwall, Scotland, Ireland and most of the U.K. coastline. We have major championships here. Here's a link you might find useful.

  11. in line with other answers Cornwall is the place to go if surfing is what your after plus Newquay has a smart night life!!
