  1. Yes!  If you adopt a child from the state system, or from foster care, there is no (or little) fee!

Contact your state's Child Protective Services agency, and ask for the adoption unit.

    Good luck!

  2. d**n right they will, you can get more assistants with an adopted child then you can your own kids, my aunt has 2 adopted children and gets many help with them from the gov

  3. I thought you get assistance when you adopt thru foster care cause the child is considered special needs.

  4. If you adopt private then no you don't.  However if you adopt through the state like foster to adopt then yes.  They pay for medical till child turns 18, they give you money every month and they also pay for 4 years of a state funded college

  5. good one!! Im pretty sure that they have to help you...hello you guys are human beigns too!! good luck and congrat!!

  6. YES.  if you adopt a 'hard to place' aka 'special needs child'  this changes depending on the state for example in FL if the child is over the age of 8, or part african american or if there are any significant emotional attachments to a foster family or if there are any diagnosis like asthma or psychological disorder such as ADHD.  It doesnt matter if you go private or public, but if you go through the state then all of your adoption fees are waived.  the assistance is called a subsidy.

  7. I knew what you meant.

    Go to

    http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc607.html

to get more information on the adoption tax credit.

There are some states that also offer tax credits for adoption.  Contact your state dept of Revenue to see if yours is one of them.

You might go to the HR department of your or your spouse's company to see if they offer adoption benefits.

There are adoption grants available, too.  Google "adoption grants" or visit the Dave Thomas Foundation or Shaohanna's Hope (Steven Curtis Chapman's organization) for more info.

You can do a fund raiser also.  Just Google Adoption Fund Raiser & you'll come up with ideas.

I hope finances don't stand in the way of you giving a child a loving, permanent home.

  8. Not usually...one of the criteria one must pass to be eligible to adopt is the ability to prove that the couple are financially stable and earning enough to raise the child independently.

Welfare recipients are laughed out of the office.

EDIT:  My answer is for ADOPTION not FOSTER CARE.  They are two entirely different things!!!!

  9. Yes.  If you adopt children out of the foster care system the government will assist you.  The amount of assistance depends on the needs of the child.  Each child in the system is ranked based on the level of care they need.  Children that are harder to place, like  black children, sibling groups, those with mental or physical handicaps and older kids (8+), are ranked much higher than young, healthy, white children. Therefor the level of assistance is greater for these children.  Adoptive parents receive monthly payments (kind of like child support from the government) until the child is 18, Medicaid and WIC.  The amount of assistance also depends greatly upon the county the child comes from, every county is different in how much they can afford to pay.  There are many children in foster homes right now in need of a permanent family !

  10. It is dependent on the type of adoption.  While all adoptions currently qualify for the income tax break, there are also programs available for children with special needs that will assist financially, as well as subsidies available for children with special needs.

As the others have said, foster care/adopt programs also will help parents with fees.

    Good luck to you.
