Question:

Is there history behind talking while you are asleep?

I have found myself talking in my sleep and waking up. I wasn't even dreaming either like if I were to be interacting through it in my sleep. It's scary, my friends who slept over (a while ago) said I was talking in my sleep at night but they didn't understand what I was saying- not english or any other language they said. Is there a medical or religious view on this? fake?

  1. It is a very common occurence.  Do not worry about it, at all.   Many people do it and don't have anyone there to tell them about it.

However:  If you start to sing opera, then you are in trouble and need to see the director of the MET.

  2. It's quite common to talk in your sleep. In fact kids do it all the time. At night when you go to sleep, your body goes into a repair cycle. It heal injuries, release hormones, and your brain sorts out and stores all information for that day . Not sure if you are aware of the sleep process (i.e R.E. M sleep). But night talking occurs when your body does not transition from one process to the next.

Other than annoying those in the room with you, sleep talking is not danger or mean anything. Its just your brain trying to sort out unconscious or conscious information.

  3. I do this as well.  But it normally is whatever I'm dreaming I'm just saying it aloud.  My best friend's mom mumbles and shreeks in her sleep, but from what I understand she's been through a lot in her childhood and relives it in her sleep.  It's really sad to watch, and in my case, it isn't as severe.  So who knows what's really going on here for you or me.  I'm curious as to the answers you will receive from this.

  4. The medical term for sleep talking is somniloquy. Children are more apt to talk in their sleep than adults. The reason for this is the immature state of the brain and incomplete sleep cycles. Are you a 12 or 15?

  5. yes there is history to it. there is science behind it too.
