  1.  As a lawyer, who was convicted of criminal mischief for protecting my girls and other kids from a creep with a camera (I broke his camera), I can tell you that I feel my life is over.  I can nail an interview, but the conviction kills any job offer.  I lost my business (private security) because of the conviction, and since I have been self-employed for 15 years, nobody will touch me.  Oh, did I mention I've lost my house, and my credit is in the low 500s?  I feel I am being pushed into a corner:  I can't get work, but if I turn to anything illegal to make money, I will end up in the prison system.  It's as if society has decided I don't deserve a future, because I had the timerity to protect my kids.  On top of this, the guy is now suing me for six figures!  I wonder if the attorney who took his case on contingency knows I don't have any way to pay for my family's food, let alone a judgement!

  3. With today's computer generation coming upon us most felons we know in our age group decide just to start their own business rather than battle it out in the workforce at the lower end of the totum pole. Come on into our store. We're here when you need us!

  6. I was convicted of a felony when I was 11 years old! Yes 11. NOW being 24 and trying to find work I find myself having zero luck what-so-ever. This is absolutely ridiculous! What kind of country condemns an 11 year old for the rest of his life!?!!?!?

  8. welcome to it...as a felon who was in trouble 20 years ago it never gets any easier. and that is if you can find a job at all. it's like society will only allow you crime as a means of survival

  9. Negligent hiring laws came along and shot that out of the water. If you have a decent driving record you can land a job flagging or look for companies who don't do background checks.
