This article applies to all BlackBerry devices using PocketMac for BlackBerry 4.x.

To synchronize your BlackBerry device and your Macintosh computer, perform the following steps:

Launch PocketMac for BlackBerry.

Connect your BlackBerry device to your computer.

Click Sync.

Your BlackBerry device should display Connected to Desktop during the synchronization process.

If this process fails, restart your Macintosh computer and BlackBerry device, and then repeat the above steps. You may need to use an alternate Universal Serial Bus (USB) port on your computer.

For BlackBerry 8100 Pearl™ smartphones

The default setting for Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode on the BlackBerry 8100 Pearl smartphone is Prompt. This default setting will cause connection problems.

To resolve this issue, complete the appropriate set of steps below, based on whether a media card is installed in the BlackBerry smartphone.

If a media card is not installed

From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Advanced Options > Media Card.

The settings on this screen should read

Media Card Support = On

Encryption Mode = None

Mass Storage Support = On

Auto Enable Mass Storage When Connected = No

**There is no Media Card Present**

If a media card is installed

From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options > Advanced Options > Media Card.

The settings on this screen should read

Media Card Support = On

Encryption Mode = None

Mass Storage Support = On

Auto Enable Mass Storage When Connected = Yes

Total Space = 512.00

Free Space = 486.00
