Outside of the British Isles, Austalasia and Africa, is anyone interested. Are the Argentinian press reporting it much, and is there any interest amongst countries not taking part.

  1. The Japanese are avid supporters of Rugby and they are reporting it. Also in Europe, the French, Gerorgians, Portugeuse, Romanians, are in the cup and reported on the action. I expect that people in the USA and Canada have also been following the sport.

If a person is interested in a sport it does not mean they ignore an event like this.

  2. Well it's the thrid biggest sporting event in the world after the Olympics and the Football WC so i would say there's massive interest.

  3. We Candadians like our rugby (despite our embarrassing performance this year), especially us West Coast Canadians.

  4. There is alot of interest in Ireland.

  5. I doubt there is a lot of interest in countries not taking part other from expats who can find a way to see it.  You can't expect countries that aren't represented to be terribly bothered about it.

  6. Yes, and to correct the first answer...Japan is in Asia.

Antarctica does not have a team there though.

  7. I tell you what. If Argentinia beat Ireland this weekend you wil certainly know about it in Beunos Aires. The only continent that is not competing is Asia.( as far as my geography goes.) We got the USA from North America and Argentinia from South America. Over time these teams will improve and they will gain supporters

  8. It really depends on how strong a footing the code has in that country.  I have just returned from spending a week in the US and couldn't believe that altho they have a team participating at the tournament it didn't feature anywhere!  I wanted to scream when I passed sports bars and saw either gridiron or soccer being screened... ~ 'you do realise there is a rugby world cup tournament on at the moment and that your country is participating?'  (without getting into the direct tv debate)  It really was a case of looking for the proverbial needle.
