Is there nice stylish lively place in Mayfair/St James to have a long drink & long gossip Friday after work?

Not too expensive or crowded if possible, and not too loud? But nice? Maybe a bit dressy? Would like to avoid a blokey bar-crush if possible - we are delicately nurtured - and it'll be the end of a long hard week. Ideas? Thanks! Either cheap bar-snacks or very cheap plated-food. Either is ok as long as it's cheap.

  1. the loop is good just off hanover sq

  2. Try bar at Nobu Mayfair. Posh, stylish and good to spot a celeb!

  3. I don't think you'll find many places in that area that are cheap or quiet, but you could try Rocket (Lancashire Court). They do good cocktails and reasonably priced bar snacks.

That area is full of hotel bars, though - why not treat yourself to one decent bottle of wine in one of those?

Duke's Bar (Duke's Hotel, St James') is the only place to go for a proper martini in London.

You could try the Coach & Horses - it's a mock Tudor pub on Bruton Street and they serve food, though I can't guarantee it'll be quiet. Most places in Mayfair / St James will quieten down as the evening draws on and the city boys head for home though.
