does the filter create enough oxygen?cause i have an eclipse system & it doesn't come with an air pump but my betta fish seems fine without it.the reason i ask is cause i also have a fish bowl with a female betta, she has an under gravel heater and i'm thinking of putting in an air pump for more oxygen (yes yes yes i knooowww they have a lybrinthe organ) STILL i think she'd like it.

  1. I'd skip the air pump if u have the filter

  2. A power filter will provide plenty of oxygen for a sensibly stocked tank, especially if it's only a betta.

The important thing is that the water gets cicrulated around the tank, otherwise only a thin layer at the surface gets fresh oxygen, As long as the water is moving then you will get oxygen exchange.

An air pump generally does no harm, and a bit more water movement improves the oxygen level, and can be important if a tank is heavily stocked. Many people just like the look of bubbles, so use one if you want, but it's generally not important to have one.

  3. The air pump is just for show. But it adds alot to the show so Id get it.

  4. The air pump adds more air to the water and you will notice the fish are more active with the extra air

  5. I always had a filter and an air pump, just make sure you buy the right size of an air pump if you do decide to go with it.

  6. Do you have anything else in the tanks? If so then I'd add one just to add more oxygen. Bettas dont need them. The filter is most likely enough. They are more of an attractive additive.
