  1. No.

  2. I have never heard of a grace period after the last day of the month of expiration (at best).  You may be thinking of a 30 day grace period when someone moves to a new State, but even this isn't true in all States.  In the old days, if you were visiting another State for a defined period of time, you would get a "visitor" plate issued to you by that State.  Pretty cool !

Some States expire at the BEGINNING of the month, not the end.  So, in that case, if you have a January expiration, you must renew the plates by the end of December (prior to Jan 1).

Others are on the day of the month when you obtained your plates.  If you got your plates on January 21st, that would be the expiration date (renewal date) for your plates.

Other States have it set up to be the last day of the calendar month (end of Jan).

In any case, each State is different and can set their own laws and regulations up as they deem necessary.  You'd need to check with your State DMV to see what the regulations say.

  3. No grace period.  Tags expire at the end of the month, after that you are taking your chances.
