Is there not a contradiction here?

How can someone be against abortion, s*x education AND social programs that would help young unwed mothers?

No abortion + no s*x education seems like a guaranteed recipe for unwanted pregnancies in families that can't support them, yet many conservative politicians (such as Palin) doesn't want to fund federal programs to help them out.

Can someone explain the logic here?

  1. Not everyone considers babies to be a burden.

  2. Maybe she thinks everyone is rich like her.  To be honest do you really want your tax dollars to keep going to programs for unwed teen mothers?  Why should we all have to pay for thier mistakes?  They wanted to hop in bed and do the "tango" and if they get pregnant because they were too stupid to use birth control then that's their own problem.  I believe that s*x before marriage is WRONG.  I'm tired of how so many teen girls can think they can just drop out of high school, get pregnant, and live off welfare the rest of their lives.  We need to show these teen girls that getting pregnant and droping out of school will cause hardship...not a free check each month.  I think the government should give them vouchers for milk and baby food because the babies are victims and they should not be punished for thier mother's stupidity.  However I don't think the government should hand out money to teen mothers who then go to the mall and have a shopping spree.  Do you think Palin's daughter will get any government support when her baby is born...since her mother is so against it.

  3. Teaching abstinence and self control in a world that teaches "free love" is indeed difficult, but important.  To stand for what you believe in is also important-see her family rally around her with support and guidance.  She has choices now, they include adoption or marriage or single parenthood.  Abortion is not in the mix.  See how it works out?

I believe in birth control, but I believe in abstinence before marriage-teenagers are not responsible enough to handle the complexities of sexual relationships, disease, etc.

We have the intelligence to abstain and wait until the time is right.

    Keep your pants on!

    McCain/Palin you bet!

  4. It's not about logic. It's about setting standards of proper behavior and how you deal with errors in judgment or behavior after they have occurred. It's about personal responsibility for ones actions instead of expecting the govt. to fix all my youthful indiscretions.

  5. Does Obama's position on partial birth abortion sound logical to you?

    On Human Life

Obama: Devoutly pro-choice. Voted against a bill in the Illinois state senate that would have required doctors to save the lives of babies who survived abortion procedures. The implication of this position is that babies born prematurely during abortions would be left alone, unnourished and unmedicated, until they died.

Palin: Devoutly pro-life. Exercised the choice proclaimed by liberals to bring to full term a baby that had been diagnosed in utero with Down Syndrome.

Now it's true there are other crucial differences. Sen Obama has appeared on Meet The Press every other week for the last four years. He has been the subject of hundreds of adoring articles in papers and newsweeklies and TV shows and has written two Emmy-award winning books.

Gov Palin has never appeared on Meet the Press, never been on the cover of Newsweek. She presumably feels that, as a mother of five children married to a snowmobile champion, who also happens to be the first woman and the youngest person ever to be elected governor of her state, she has not really done enough yet to merit an autobiography.

Then again, I'm willing to bet that if she had authored The Grapes of Wrath, sung like Edith Piaf and composed La Traviata , she still wouldn't have won an Emmy.

Fortunately, it will be up to the American people and not their self-appointed leaders in Hollywood and New York to determine who really has the better experience to be president.

  6. yeah it's simple. don't have s*x til your married! ahhh! what a thought in this day and age. heaven forbid we not get to indulge in these pleasures.

but it's morally wrong, to be sleeping with someone you're not married to. that's the simple answer. the question is why are people so selfish? why won't they wait till marriage? it does make an effect. people who wait to have s*x till their married stay married longer than people who don't wait. simple solution to divorce rate? don't have s*x till your married. it's really just that simple.

  7. We don't want the government regulating abortion. We don't want the government regulating whether or not s*x education or religion should be taught in schools, but yet we want the government to pay for the children of families who can't afford them. I'd say there's a BIG contradiction.

  8. Silly liberal, the rules only apply to OTHER people.

    Let's walk this through:

    - Teenagers shouldn't have s*x, so don't educate them about it and, for God's sake, don't give them con-damns.

    - If they DO have s*x, and get pregnant, they shouldn't get abortions.

    - If they decide to carry the baby to term, they shouldn't get support or welfare of any kind, because that would only encourage them to have more babies.

    - BUT, if the kid is yours, none of this applies. These rules are only for other people.

    Let's try another one:

    - Men shouldn't have s*x with other men, so for God's sake don't give them con-damns or educate them about safe s*x.

    - If they DO have unsafe s*x and catch something, then they shouldn't get health care or welfare of any kind as that would only encourage them to have more s*x. Their health care is their own problem.

    - But if they get fired and lose their health care, that's cool.

    - But if they try to marry their partner or try to get equal rights and get on their partner's health care plan, that's not ok.

    - BUT, if it's you having s*x then none of this applies. These rules are only for other people. In fact, if you're a man and want to have s*x with other men, there's a special delegation at the RNC for you. They meet in the men's room.
