  1. Ya, but I mean, so what if hes english ? I live in ottawa and it was all over the newspapers. Its just a few people who still are mad at the english for winning canada over the french. And that was a 100 years ago.


  2. Yes.  It is from the seperatist Quebecers.  This is a small group of people opposing the concert.  Not because is is anglophone - but because he is British.  And they believe it is an insult because of the British conquest of Quebec.  (They beat the French in a war for the colony).

    But, as I said, it is just a few people.  Most Quebecers don't care where he is from - they just recognize him as an amazing artist.  People lined up over night just to see him arrive!  And many more lined up to be the first into the concert grounds.

    A small correction, it was  in 1759 that the British defeated the French, at the Battle of the plains of Abraham, so you are a wee  bit off on the time line. Like 150 years.
