  1. The most basic moves are "dig", "set" and "spike".

Some players prefer to "tip" the ball instead of spiking it. It's just a soft touch technique to nudge the ball straight line to ground away from the other player - you could use a spike technique or the set to do this - to accurately place the ball towards the ground on the other side.

When you can't do a proper dig (you're in the wrong position, or you don't have the time to get into the right position) - you can do half a dig - where you make contact with only one arm. And a good saving the ball from hitting the ground in awkward positions, is simply to use a closed fish, and make contact with your closed fingers.

A reverse dig is useful, when you are chasing the ball and wish to redirect the ball. (digging backwards over your head).

When you are in a wrong position, you can use almost any technique you can come up with - to make contact with the ball - you just can't use any scoop technique that is viewed as a held ball - any closed hand is fine, and any technique that is just a variation of the dig, set and spike - usually is legal too.

When you do a lot of practice - with passing the ball - you will find you need techniques which cover the awkward balls - and find techniques that work for you, in those situations.

It is better to do something with the ball, instead of letting it make contact with the ground - when you could have done something with the ball.

  2. what are you talking about? moves?  be more specific

  3. Well I'm not sure what you mean, but volleyball is all about strategies. When you are passing for exampe (bumping) you should feel like you are sitting on a chair. When you hit, you should step with your left then right then bring your legs together and jump. Don't think about getting your position perfect. Keep practicing; the more you practice the easier it gets to play volleyball.

  4. "All you've got"
