Question:

Is there public transit between Trim and Newgrange?

About to head off to Ireland for a 10 day trip. Renting a car for the first 6 days but not for my 4 nights in Dublin (don't want to deal with the traffic). I want to visit both Newgrange and Trim, and I haven't been able to find any busses that run between the two places. Since they're both to the north of Dublin, I'd lke to do them both in one day, but I think going to one, then back to Dublin, then north to the other would take too much time (and add cost) to do in one day.

So, are there any busses that run between Newgrange and Trim? Or, is it possible to even hire a cab ride for the trip?

  1. Try the following:

Meath Tourism Ltd, Ashbourne Civic Offices, Killegland St., Ashbourne Co. Meath,

    tel: +353 (01) 835 8022,

    fax: +353 (01) 835 8120,

    email: info@meathtourism.ie

Ordinary rural buses from Drogheda or Dublin to Trim might go within walking distance of Newgrange but you'd be better to ask details at the above address. There isn't a centre of population near Newgrange itself so you'll only get there directly by tour bus.

I'd suggest get a bus to Trim and a taxi (cab to you) from Trim shouldn't be too expensive compared to a round trip by taxi from Dublin. The taxi address is:

    Mr Eamonn Mooney,

    New Haggard

    Trim

    Meath.

    Phone:+353 46 31067

    Hope that works!

You could also hire a car for the day from Dublin, probably cheaper and faster all round. Drive on the left!
