I may be moving to Paterson NJ shortly cause I can't afford NYC. Im from Jersey so I know how it is compared with other cities in NYC and Paterson is where I would like to live. Are there any buses going back and forth from Paterson to NYC? Do the dollar buses outside porth authority that say NYC/Paterson on them run 24/7??? Someone please help me out its a deciding factor.

  1. Bus service between Paterson, NJ and the Port Authority Bus Terminal is not 24/7.

The NJ Transit route 161 runs on weekdays from 4:55 AM to just before midnight from Paterson.   The last bus from NYC is 12 Midnight.

Similar schedules are on the weekend.

It would stand to reason that dollar buses (if there are any) would run even less often than NJ Transit buses and end earlier.

Have you considered NJ transit Rail service from Paterson to NY Penn Station?  Take the train from Paterson and transfer upstairs at Secaucus Junction to a NY Penn station bound train.    As with buses the train does not run 24/7.  Weekday service starts about 5 AM and ends around 1 AM.    Weekend service starts and ends about 1 hours later.
