Not sure where you are looking then.

try http://www.sedo.com, where pizza.com sold for a million or so only a few months ago. Iraq.com picked up a huge amount too and there are literally thousand domains selling daily for $2.500 upwards.

it is not a joke because many people do make money off of really good domain names but you have to be quick and find the right ones. The best way is to buy a domain and put something up on tehsite to start sending some traffic that way and it is easier to sell but it still takes time.

There's not a whole lot of money left to be made on domain names.  Most domain tasters buy up the names as soon as they are available, check to see what kind of traffic is going to them, and then they dump the unprofitable ones.  You can't get a premium name with out some serious cash, and if you're looking to sell it, you have to find someone else willing to pay more for it.  Good Luck.
