Is there really a "Madden Curse"

Let's see if there's a curse or not...

Madden 2000 - Barry Sanders retires before the season starts. BTW Barry Sanders is weird.

Madden 2001 - Eddie George had a very good season

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_George#Career_Rushing_Statistics

Madden 2002 - Daunte Culpepper missed five games, int to td ratio is almost equivalent.

Madden 2003 - Marshall Faulk was 29. Around the age when RB's decline in performance.

Madden 2004 - Michael Vick misses 11 games due to leg injury.

Madden 2005 - Ray Lewis stats didn't drop drastically.

Madden 2006 - Donovan McNabb. This was the season that TO was placed in the deactivated list and McNabb played well before injuring his leg.

Madden 2007 - Shaun Alexander had 370 rushing attempts at the age of 28, near the age when RB's fall off. Also, Steve Hutchinson left the Seahawks for the Vikings.

Madden 2008 - Vince Young was in his second year starter after a fantastic 2006 season. By this time, teams know his strengths and weaknesses. Teams limited his strengths and he regressed. Typical sophomore seasons for rookies.

Madden 2009 - Brett Favre retired and came back. It was his fault for that. Now, he's a Jet but the Madden cover as him as a Packer.

  1. exactly, Vince Young had a typical sophomore slump... I wouldn't call that a way to show that there is a curse.

Also Vince didn't REALLY get hurt. He only missed a few games (most players get some injuries every year).

  2. the curse is that they get hurt stupid.

    vince got hurt

    alexander got hurt

    mcnabb's got hurt every year

lewis got hurt like two years later

vick got hurt plus the dogfighting c**p

faulk got hurt a few years later and lost his job to stephen jackson. faulks retired, jacksons one of the most dominant backs in the league

culpepper got hurt and got his buns shipped to miami then oakland and then... o my gawd nowhere! he doesnt have a job!! hahahaha!!

eddie and barry were the only ones not to get hurt, and favre is stupid enough for even playing so yeah he'll get hurt.

  3. Yes.  It's almost as bad as the Heisman curse.  I wonder what would happen to a Heisman winner who gets on the cover of a Madden Game <shiver>.

  4. lol the Madden cover is like the grim reaper for NFL players, but for the people that play the game, a recognition of Football Greatness......

I think its a mind thing but you cant argue with, the Madden Hit List....

  5. IT'S JUST CALLED BAD LUCK.

  6. h**l yeah, there is a curse!

  7. some years are obviously lighter than others, but the point is, every player's stats decresed and/or missed at least one game the season after they were put on the cover
