Is there really a witching hour?

I have heard that at 3 am it is the witching hour because demons or spirits are mocking the death of Jesus Christ which was at 3 pm. Could someone explain what witching hour is and possibly the difference between that and "dead time"?

  1. 3 am (the dead of night or dead time) is the correct hour that it is believed spirit activity is suppose to be at its peak. One theory is that at night electromagnetism in the atmosphere changes such that the boundry between our normal world and what some reffer to as the "otherworld" is at its thinest. This allows entities from this otherworld to cross over into our world more easily.

In religions like wicca and christianity, the time of 3 is important because it reflects the holy trinity. In wicca 3 am is considered important because its correlation to the 3 fold law and the 3 fold Goddess.

In Christianity the trinity relates to father, son, holy ghost - and the alledged death of Jesus. However the bible does not say Jesus died at 3 pm, that is a modern invention. In the days of Jesus, they did not even measure time the same way we do.

The witching hour from medieval times is the time believed that witches came out to do their "unholy satanic" practices. The time ascribed to the witching hour was generally viewed at mid-night. Women caught out late at night could have been suspected of witchcraft if they did not have a legitimate reason to be out. In some countries it was illegal for women to be out past dark.

  2. The Witching Hour is actually at 4:00 a.m. It is the quiet time that women used to rise from sleep to tend to Spiritual matters they had no time to tend after the rest of the family woke because then they were busy with Hearth and Home.

  3. That's c**p, most people who actually understand spirituality realize that Christianity is a myth.

Second of all 3am is just the darkest hour figuratively speaking,

it's "the dead of night" after 3am it's becoming morning the way most people perceive "morning" and "day".

Look at the time most people go to sleep, and the time most people wake up, 3am is usually dead in the middle of that.

Therefore when most people on a normal schedule go to bed at a normal hour and wake up from a bad dream in the middle of the night, it's usually around 3am.

Also the more people perpetuate this myth, the more it takes on a life of it's own.

When I first started seriously meditating and doing spirit readings, I used to wake up every single night at 3am.

Once I started to realize there was nothing to it really, it stopped. Now I wake up at 5:30 every single morning because a spirit I am personally connected to "wakes" me up at that time, not 3am.

Anyway, there's not much to the 3am thing other than what people have made it into, and the fact that it's the middle of the night.

But it most certainly has nothing to do with "Christ". The first time I heard that was on that show with the college kids running around chasing paranormal stuff and I literally choked on my Dr Pepper, it's one of the most ridiculous things I've heard, and believe me, when it comes the the paranormal I have heard a lot of ridiculous things.

  4. Do you realize that you're in the science questions section?

  5. Sounds like a myth to scare young Christians like you.

  6. the witching hour or hour of satan is 3 am because Jesus was crusified at 3 PM.

  7. 03:00 is this best time to launch an assault or raid as it is the time that people are at their lowest alert level and least able to react effectively.

  8. I've heard that there is such a witching hour, (On the movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose) but I don't think it's real, but then again, I don't believe that demons mock the death of Jesus, because that's not what I believe...

  9. How does anyone know what time Jesus did die?

I think it's rather odd how people will place "Happy Birthday Jesus" signs in their front yards at Christmas, yet he was born around the Ides of March.

But that's another can of worms.........

The only people that would believe any of that "witching hour" tripe are the people that were programed by their religion to believe such stuff.

  10. My grandma use to tell me the witching hour was at midnight.

  11. i believe so
