Remember Jack saying that Toyota stole his sway bar? After looking at this year's win results Toyota and Jack has dominated the number of wins so far. Is there really something to the sway bar?

PS: This is not a question about Kyle Busch... This question is about the "STOLEN SWAY BAR".

Would Toyota be as successful if they had not got their hands on the Jack Roush sway bar?

  1. If I remember correctly the sway bar in question was taken last year according to Jack Roush.  It was also said that a team member from Michael Waltrip's team had taken it.

Also notice that it is not Toyota in general that is successful, just Kyle Busch.  If the sway bar really helped the Toyota teams then MWR, Red Bull Racing, BDR and HOF, would all be dominating just like Kyle Busch.

Also Jack Roush said he wouldn't have said anything about the Toyota team taking the sway bar had Toyota not said that he intentionally cheated with the lid to the oil cooler, or whatever it was.

So all in all, I think the sway bar has nothing to do with Kyle Busch's success, or Toyota's.

  2. Very good question.... i really don't have an answer backed with proof, this is just my guess...i would say no..and I realize you do not intend for this to be a Kyle Busch question but you have to base this question on his and Carl Edwards' success. the only real hard on successful Toyota in the field is Kyle Busch, while the other two Gibbs Drivers(Denny Hamlin, who has one win, and Tony Stewart) have had no where near the success as Rowdy.  The same thing goes with Carl Edwards, with four wins and sitting comfortably 3rd in the point standings, is the only Rousch driver who has won this season.  The other four have had ups and downs all season long sitting 10th or worse in pt. standings.  Point being: every team runs the exact same set-up with the same equipment.  it would only make sense that both Rowdy and Cousin Carl's teammates would have more success if there was something to the "rousch sway bar". Ex: Jimmy and Jeff last year.  Ran the exact same set-up with the same Hendrick engine and dominated the season.....However, I've been asking myself for a long time now,"what does Kyle Busch have Smoke and Denny Hamlin don't?" kindve funny isnt it????

  3. A sway bar can make a huge difference to the way a car drives.  You can bet that everybody spends huge amounts of money on all the suspension components in hopes for a very small gain.  It doesn't take much to go from 1st to 41st.

I don't think Toyota's wins have much to do with Jacks sway bar though.  Very few Toyota teams are fast.  Still its nice to see how your equipment stacks up against the competition.  I work in the auto industry and we buy up our competitors cars and take them apart all the time.  Its called benchmarking.  If you can get it legally I have no issue with it.  You can go to your local Big 3 dealership and buy most of the parts to make a NASCAR engine.  All that's needed is the knowledge of how to tweak it for the best results.

Toyota and MWR aren't above cheating though.  Toyota is still the only manufacturer to be banned from a major racing series (WRC) and MWR had their little jet fuel problem.

  4. Sway bar wont make the cars that fast they need to do a motor check from the #18 #88 #99 #9 and dyno them
