Is there running in volleyball tryouts?

In high school volleyball tryouts is there running? i no in our school the soccer team has to be able to run a certain time to tryout..

  1. YES! At our school, we do like 2 to 2.5 miles and the coach likes to see us do it in under 20 min. We also focus on lots of agility exercises such as lunges, squats, sprints, suicides, etc. and ab workouts and push-ups.

    Volleyball is a constantly active sport so you have to be ready to move at all times no matter what position you play! Like my coach has said before "You better move your feet, or I'll do it for you!" (basically meaning we better get under the ball or we will be doind some serious running) It can also be a thing you do for punishment as well....you never know! And as many people that answered this question have also said...it also depends on who your coach is. Normally, the stricter coaches are the better ones who know what they are doing!


  2. I don't think so.  During tryouts, there's not enough time to see a lot of skills, so they don't want to waste time with running.  I can see running to warm up, but maybe only 2-3 times around the court or something.

  3. it depends on the coach. but you still want to be in physical shape. try running a mile in about 8 min. and work down from there

  6. Depends on the coach, most of the time your going to have to run and the coach is going to want to see a fairly good time. My coach waned under 8 minutes but she still took people that didn't run that fast because they were good at volleyball. But be prepared to do a lot of conditioning.

    Give it everything you have coaches like to see that ,even if you aren't the fastest.

  10. hahahahah your joking right????? we run 3 miles around campus in under 30 minutes, then we spend 20 minutes on sprints and strength training (like abs stuff and wallsits) it reallly sucks im only on the 3rd day of two-a-days highschool tryouts and i can' t move!!!!

  11. at our school, to make varsity your mile has to be under 8 1/2 minutes, and we do a lot of running. sprinting and long distance.
