I have heard some people complain from personal experience that their vision has decreased since they started looking at their computer monitors in the dark, but is there any scientific proof, since so many other variables could have influenced the outcome in the cases that I read about.

  1. You won't find scientific proof of it causing permanent damage to the eyes, because it doesn't.

Too long at the monitor, without breaks, and poor lighting can cause tiredness, eyestrain, and sore eyes, but after a rest and some sleep, it goes away...no damage done.

  2. Exactly what Footie said....but you can also look up Computer Vision Syndrome and learn about it a bit yourself! Good luck!
