Is there some sort of accessory for a digital camera that will let you do self portraits?

I'm thinking that there is a handheld, button that would let you take self portraits, but not entirely certain. Does anyone know of anthing that would work, other than a timer?

A tripod and a remote shutter release

You put the camera on a tripod, or a very level surface. You can use your camera's self timer, or a shutter release. They have corded shutter releases or remote ones.

set the camera somewhere level and steady, and use the timer! (look in your manual to find out how to use the timer...most cameras have them)
