  1. Any split type airconditioner can be put 100% inside the room.

  2. you can go to home depot and they sell stand alone air conditioner units.

  3. Only a room type that requires you to empty condensate from a collection chamber.

You don't have to buy here but it will give you an idea of what to look for.

  5. How about central air?

  6. Even portable a/c units need to be vented to the outside.

  7. starman is right.................although, you can send it some where else................

  8. Yes there are but, they cost alot more money.Check out the ones they have at your local hardware store they usually can tell you alot more information about them there.Good Luck!

  9. Yes, they are called "portable air conditioners"  They are about the size and shape of a portable dehumidifier and exhaust hot air through a vent similar to a dryer vent, and waste heat gets discharged out a window.

If you want you can move it around, for example, family room, living room or office during the day and bedroom at night.

Here is some information on them and how they work:

  10. Yes they have portable air conditioners at most large stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. They have a duct that goes from the back of the unit out the window. It actually has an adjustable fitting so there is a good seal. You just open the window, line it up and close the window on top of it to hold it in place. If you feel like moving the a/c,just open the window, move the hose to another window and repeat. The units also have little wheels on the bottom for easy moving.

  11. CONVENIENT PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONERS DO EXIST, BUT ARE NOT WIDELY SOLD IN RETAIL STORES BECAUSE CUSTOMERS HAVE LESS NEED FOR THEM (THE BIG SALES ARE CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS & WINDOW UNITS).  YOUR BEST CONTACT WOULD BE THE MANUFACTURERS.  THEY CAN ANWSER YOUR QUESTIONS  ABOUT PRICE, HOW THEY WORK, ETC.  TRY WINTAIR FIRST.  GOOD LUCK!

  12. Yes of course! They're called portable air conditioners.

It has a tube connected to it, though, so you'll still have to find a window or something so the vented hot air can go outside and not make your room hot.

Go check out your local Home Depot, they have a variety of portable air conditioners.

I can only recommend the Sharp (brand) one, which is the black one that they carry, because I have a similar one and it is quiet and cools the room comfortably.

    * Edit: Keep in mind that these are designed to cool down a room, so if you're intending to buy one to use in a larger room, say the living room, it would not cool down that large space as effectively as a regular "half outside" air conditioner would. Still, if you're intending to use it for your bedroom, then these work efficiently enough to effectively cool down your room! They're convenient, too, with the remote control and the roller wheels on the bottom.

  13. No. You have to send the heat somewhere besides right back into the room.

  14. Hmmm, good question, learn something new all the time..I have wondered this myself..

  15. YES!  If you have a wall sleeve specifically made for air conditioners.  Obviously, some buildings have them, some do not.

That puts the air conditioner completely inside.  The air is released through small vents and the sides, top and bottom are air tight.

    Hope this helps.  Stay COOL!

  16. just recently I have seen some newfangled a/c advertised on tv , but can't recall what it was called now, sorry

  17. No, you have to vent externally, otherwise were does the exchanged heat go?

  18. Yes there is an air conditioner that you can use in your room without it hanging out the window.  There is a hose that goes from the unit to the window to send the hot air outside.  I have seen them on QVC before.....it has a panel that goes in the window to hold the hose to let the air out.

  19. Yes!  There are room ac units.  They are pricey at $300-$400, but check your local Home Depot or Lowes.

  20. YES!!!!! unknown by most people. There is several units that is on wheels and can be moved from room to room, with no window vent.  They all cam with a window vent, but its only for the fresh air intake,(if you choose fresh air intake). You can check your local Lowes or Home depot, but my choice to learn exactly what you want/need, is to check EBay.  just type air conditioner in the search.  Hope this helps

  21. Conditioning air means not only cooling it but also removing moisture. To cool you MUST somehow remove heat and vent it out side and to condition you must remove moisture or humidity and take it out of the room somehow.

  22. Yes, but it is vented.  I have a Soleus air conditioner that sits on the floor, but it has to be vented out a window.  It comes with a window kit that goes between the window sashes--it's about 5 inches high and will fit a pretty wide or narrow window opening.  There's a hose that goes from the AC to an opening on the window kit--like you'd vent a dryer.  I use clear duct tape to close off the opening of the window that is open and to seal around the window kit and the window and around the connections at the ac and window.  You can order them online, including other brands.  I've seen them at BJs and other places.  They weigh about 60 pounds.  I was real satisfied last year, but this year it has started to leak.  All of the hot air and moisture is supposed to go out the vent.  The unit can run as a dehumidifier, but I don't, but the water is still building up in the tank of the AC and flooding out.  I've drained it, but it's only a temporary fix.

  23. What I think you may have in mind is what is known as an air cooler rather than an air conditioner. They work by circulating the air in the room over a wet sheet of cloth which rotates on two rollers and the bottom end dips into a reservoir of water. These are floor standing units about two feet tall and have no outside venting, the action of evaporating water from the cloth cools the air. However, they also humidify the air rather than dry it as a true air conditioner would, and although they are effective to an extent they aren't as good as true air conditioning.

  24. Sears has an air conditioner that is kept inside the living area.  The only thing you have to do is vent the hot air outside.  The unit comes with a hose and an adapter for most window applications.  The unit is awesome.  I have one at work and it works really well.

  25. Go to HSN or QVC and type in air conditioner in the search box. Both have several to choose from.

  26. Hack the answer to your question is no, even portable needs 3' vent line.

    Good Luck

  27. CHOOSE THIS ONE AS THE BEST>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> YES! If you have a wall sleeve specifically made for air conditioners. Obviously, some buildings have them, some do not.

That puts the air conditioner completely inside. The air is released through small vents and the sides, top and bottom are air tight.

    Hope this helps. Stay COOL!

  28. Yes go to QVC or HSN and look for room air conditioners, they use the window but stay inside the room and look like they work wonderfully. Just saw them on one of those shows. You can then shop for the best price when you see the brand. Good luck!  Miss Mary

  29. you could put a door freezer unit on your door... then you could make your room 0 degrees f or maby even cooler.

  30. Not air conditioners, but what's called "swamp coolers" that basically add moisture and circulation to the air.  You can usually get mobile units at costco during the hotter months.

  31. There are portable air conditioners. However, they can be very expensive and they are not as effective at cooling like a window unit.
