Is there some sort of criminal punishment for dopes that pretend to be Vets?

I got into a little disagreement with a couple of guys that were claiming to be Vietnam Vets last night and I ended up getting kicked out of the bar because of it. Guy told me he flew a chopper in Vietnam. When I asked him which he told me it was a C-130. I told him that the C-130 was a plane and he got really pissy. Apparently he's a regular at the bar and he's been telling all his bar friends that he was a Vet. Shouldn't that be a punishable crime??

  1. Stolen Valor Act of 2006. Minimum of six months in prison and a hefty fine.

  2. Pretty sad that these "posers" feel the need to bolster their pathetic meaningless lives with tales of daring that they make up. Hopefully the majority of his "friends" at the bar are just humoring him because they feel sorry for him and know he is a liar.

  3. I not sure if claiming to be a Vet in front of your buddies is a crime...it is a crime to claim awards you do not have...if you know the guys name report him to this website:

    www.pownetwork.org

They will post his name on the website, if it turns out he was not a vet or lied about his job, for all to see...hope this helps...

  4. IMO it should be. There is a group of _young_ "vets" around here (where I'm not going to say) who claim to be from the 'Nam era.

Sorry guys, if you were in that war you are my age or older, not in your 20's.

BTW, the last time I saw one, a C130 was indeed an airplane, NOT a rotorcraft of any kind.

  5. Wow, what a loser. It's a punishable crime in my book.

  6. Yes, everyone who has ever told a lie to someone at a bar should be arrested.

I hope you are really Alf, otherwise I am calling the cops.

  7. Most of them guys are drunk anyway, but if they go to the VA they should atleast have a va card on them for one,it will say Dept of veterans Affairs and the picture should be just below this with the name also.on the back is a phone number with a black stripe .also if you know these boys they should show you there DD-214 and have discharge papers one from the army with the years ,one from the president and i got another  a Cert of appeciation from WC Westmoreland   from 1969/74 ,i was drafted and these boys should be in there late 50's or 60's atleast,so count back from 1975 and see if they were even old enought, they have a web site called GI search.com at times they have the names of those who served, just check out there so called unit and base camp.

  8. yeah I'm sure those wannabees are realling posing a risk with there lies?       ???/      Who would of known that a no lifer losin drunkard would be full of it??       Sound like you should go to a bar with class.   Those old man crack in a floor bars are pretty muched gear toward that type of crowd.

  9. If he's just bragging, no.  He'll be found out to be a liar...as you found him out to be. If he tries to pass off as a vet for benefits, yes, he can be criminally prosecuted.  Read STOLEN VALOR (available at your library) to read about MORE 'fake vets.'
