i can checkout towns, with photos of town centres, shops, local amenities, etc to checkout places to live.

i want to move from essex, and cant visit all the places id like to, im wondering whether theres a tourist book of places outside london to live.

i.e hertfordshire towns, berkshire towns, surrey towns, etc so this would save me going to all these places on a train?

thanks

  1. yes

  2. Most towns have websites now and if you look on Wikipedia, there's usually something about most places with links to further websites.

A good one for getting the info from the locals is Knowhere:

    http://knowhere.co.uk

They don't usually have photos on there, but info is added by the locals of that town/area so you sometimes get some interesting stuff about local pubs/shops etc.

    This could also be useful:

For sales and rental, try rightmove:

  3. The reference section of your local library will have books detailing every town and village in the UK. One is The Shell Guide to Britain, there is a similar one by THE TIMES. If you havn't used a library recently this will be an introduction in how good they can be...choose a big library in your nearest town, not a village library (although some of those are really good.) If you speak to the librarian in your nearest library they will get some appropriate books in for you from other libraries. The service is free.
