Is there some trick to get cut gladiolas to bloom (after a few days in water)?

I bought 2 different colors of glads, and the white ones have bloomed, but the lavender ones have yet to budge. Is there some trick to get them to open? I cut the stems and put them in warm water when I got them.

Anything else I might want to try?

That is kinda puzzling.  I have never had trouble with glads blooming on out.
