Is there some trick to making a tv universal remote operate on my tv? ?

It worked previously on my tv now it cant seem to find the code and the code i used before doesn't work.

if u still have the pamphlet that came with the remote there should be a sequence of buttons to push that will scan through all the codes programed to the remote, or go online to the remote manufactures website and see if they have a list of codes new or updated
