I am a hairdresser for the past 25 years. Until the last few years I suffer from a extremely painfull shoulder caused my bursitis. Besides hair I work alot in my yard and remolding our house. I have not been able to do much of anything for the past 3 weeks. I do not want to get a cortisone shot I hear bad things from the shot. I wonder if there is a herb or a vitamin supplements that would do something for my joint and releave the pain. I have been taking moltrin which doesnt even touch it. Instead of hiding the pain with something I would like to elemenate the problem with out taking something not good for you. My doctor only tells me to get the shot. Which besides some of the bad things about it. I hear this shot is instant pain releive on most times but also decreases your lubercation in your joints which causes all over joint pain alot milder but still there. So whats your thoughts and idea?

  1. I too would recommend the shot.. Natural supplements MSM (in powder form if u can stomach it, jarrow is a good brand), Glucosamine WITH the chondroitin, flax seed, fish oil or an Omega 3,6,9 combo (essential fatty acids) for inflammation and lubrication in the meanwhile.. however for the exception of the EFA's the others can take anywhere from 4-6 wks to experience relief if any.. is it worth it?

  2. I think your best answer would be to try glucosamine chondrotin. These suppliments are healthy for you and will help slightly plus pretty cheap to try for results. You also can try adding in omega 3 fatty acids/fish oil I've heard they also can help out. The cortisone shot is a temporary fix to a permanent problem works well for most people but runs out and must be redone. I would go the cheapest noninvasive method possible first which would be the glucosamine. Good Luck Ryan

  3. Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa, which is a layer of tissue in and around a joint. If you do not get the shot the chances of the bursa healing are slim to none. The cortisone shot is a steroid that blocks the inflammatory response of the tissue. Not getting the shot could lead to a serious tear of pinching of the tissue, often resulting in an infection, in which the joint must be opened and drained. I would really recommend getting the shot and following up with an Orthopedic doctor.

  4. Have the injection its not so bad I have had so many I cant remember.

Better still go to see a chiropractor they do wonderful things, y daughter has a shocking shoulder problem and the chiropractor get it right every time. Yes the shot is almost instant relief mind you when the anesthetic wears off its sore just put some heat on it and it should be ok next day

    Good luck
