Is there someone famous in your family tree? Who?

As the last poster said,everyone does! (All of us can trace our descent to only a few women-about 10 in europe.) My mtdna ancestry puts me in the same group as the outlaw Jesse James & Tsar Nicholas of Russia (& hence the Danish Royal family who he inherited his mtdna from.) However, our common female ancestor will probably have lived 10-20,000 years ago (mtdna mutates VERY slowly.) My dna is a better match to Jesse James than the tsar,so our common ancestor would have been in more recent times-though still could be a good 4-10,000 years ago.

Yes, of course. Everyone has; it is just a matter of how far back.

By 3 different paths (3 different children of his) I am descended from Charlemagne. If you look at his tree, then you know there are a lot of other famous personages.

In his book, "Mapping Human History: Discovering the Past Through Our Genes" by Steve Olson, Mr. Olson claims that everyone alive on earth today is descended from three very famous persons: Nefertiti, Confucius, and Julius Caesar (not through his wife, Julia, but through illegitimate children).
